Find a Baja Fresh, get a free burrito

To find the Baja Fresh nearest to you, use the store locator on the Baja Fresh official web site. Baja Fresh has about 300 locations in the U.S., and its headquarters are in Cypress, California.

For  health-conscious individuals and calorie-counters, there is a nutritional table on the company’s web site as well.

Rocky road

Baja Fresh has been on a bit of a financial rollercoaster for the past decade or so. According to Wikipedia:

In 2002, Baja Fresh became a wholly owned subsidiary of Wendy’s International with a purchase price of $275 million. Under Wendy’s ownership the original Baja Fresh menu of freshly prepared-on-site ingredients was replaced with standard fast-food joint staples and sales at the chain predictably slid, and it quickly began to lose money. On November 28, 2006, Wendy’s sold Baja Fresh to David Kim, a private investor consortium for $31 million.

I guess that proves that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to fast food formulas. Also, I couldn’t find a lot of information on the company’s current financial situation, but if Baja Fresh is handing out free burritos, that must mean they are doing OK.

Personal review

I don’t live near a Baja Fresh now, but I used to several years ago, before the place was sold to Wendy’s. The company’s web site now says “you won’t find freezers, can openers or microwaves in a Baja Fresh,” so clearly things have gone back to the pre-Wendy’s operating procedure.

I really liked Baja Fresh a lot because the food is not at all greasy, and there are so many different types of salsa. I really love spicy food, and Baja Fresh definitely has the right stuff to spice your food up. If you have never tried it before and you live near a Baja Fresh, I personally recommend that you try a free burrito. I hope this promotion does help Baja Fresh’s business. It is nice to have inexpensive alternatives to fast food.
